John Cathro

Board Advisor

Registered Professional Forester and independent consultant, John holds a MSc in forestry and an MA in conflict mediation. He brings over 20 years of experience in community wildfire protection, Indigenous land stewardship, and conservation to FFI's advisory board.

Mike Goold

Board Advisor

Wet'suwet'en Nation member, Indigenous Forestry Advisor to the Leq'á:mel First Nation and strategic advisor to BC First Nations Forestry Council, Mike brings 35+ years of governance and land stewardship expertise. Mike supports FFI in incorporating Indigenous knowledge into Nature Finance.

Peter Tsigaris

Board Advisor

Professor of Economics and Chair of the Environmental Economics Department at Thompson Rivers University. Peter's research spans environmental and ecological economics, financial risk, and sustainability. Peter supports FFI on the economics of ecological systems.

Gary Bull

Board Advisor

Professor Emeritus at UBC Forestry with three forestry degrees, Gary has supervised research projects with the World Bank, Wildlife Conservation Society, WWF, Forest Trends, and FAO. He brings global expertise in ecosystem service markets, Indigenous forest economics, and international forest policy to FFI.

Sarah Smith-Tripp

Scientific Advisor

Post-doctoral researcher at UBC's Centre for Wildfire Coexistence. Sarah is an interdisciplinary ecosystem scientist currently specializing in wildfire resilience and probabilistic risk modelling. Sarah advises FFI on landscape-scale fire resilience and forest ecology.

Sian Kou-Giesbrecht

Scientific Advisor

Assistant Professor in the School of Resource and Environmental Management at SFU and CLIMB research group leader. Her research focuses on how global change impacts carbon and nutrient cycling through terrestrial ecosystems. Sian integrates this into Earth system models and aids FFI in assessing climate impacts at scale.

Lennon Treffry

Founder and CEO

Environmental economist with extensive experience in ecosystem service and natural capital valuation, biodiversity economics, and probabilistic risk modeling. Lennon founded FFI to close the gap between what forests actually provide and what our economic systems value them at. 

Kate MacPherson

Philanthropic and Funding Lead

Strategic executive and philanthropy leader, and MPNL with expertise in organizational growth, partnerships, revenue strategy, and leadership development across environmental and community sectors. 

Andrea Fox

Land Partnership Coordinator

With 15 years in social and environmental advocacy, Fox bridges Indigenous sovereignty, government policy, and community relations in their role coordinating land partnerships and conservation initiatives.

Emma Thomlison

Communications and Design Lead

With 7 years in UX design, web development, and community communications, Emma shapes how FFI's work is understood. She builds the digital and visual systems that connect FFI's mission to its audiences.

Sophia Bereza

Forest Technician

Forest Technician with field experience across coastal and interior BC in layout, timber reconnaissance, and silviculture surveys, Sophia supports FFI's on-the-ground forest assessment and project work.

Jessica Broder

Wildfire Specialist

Wildfire specialist with hands-on BC Wildfire Service experience, Jessica contributes expertise in fire ecology, fire-inclusive land management, and Indigenous fire stewardship to FFI's forest resilience projects.
